Watches require careful repair and maintenance to ensure the fragile components remain healthy and the watch performs properly. The power available and the size of the watch make them especially sensitive to the deterioration of oils and lubricants. Harranell Clocks & Watches is able to service a wide variety of wrist and pocket watches from most eras. We work with industry leading service providers to provide the services we are unable to offer in house.

Watch Repairs

  • A small watch, a pair of tweezers, and three watch batteries in a clear plastic container, placed on a white surface with a mirror and black surface nearby.

    Quartz Watch Servicing

Quartz watch servicing is the repair of battery powered watches. The process will vary from watch to watch but if a replacement battery isn't enough to get the watch running, or if the watch has been damaged, a service will be needed.

This repair involves the watch being disassembled and cleaned, with replacement parts needed for the majority of services.

The watch is then reassembled and checked over to ensure correct running.

  • Close-up of a person's hands repairing a mechanical watch, with visible gears and parts.

    Mechanical Watch Servicing

As with anything mechanical with moving parts, a service will be needed from time to time in order to make sure the watch continues to function as it should.

The recommended interval between services is 5 years for most wristwatches.

The watch will be disassembled and cleaned before careful reassembly. The watch is then lubricated with high quality watch oil, before being tested and regulated.

  • Technical drawing of a watch movement showing gears, screws, and labeled components such as the main wheel, top crown wheel, and escape wheel, with detailed annotations.

    Partial Repairs

From glass replacements, new batteries and case restoration, we're able to carry out the additional repairs needed to give your watch that finishing touch.
