About

Michael Harranell began working in the trade aged 22 after finishing university. He began working for one of the main clock repair workshops in Cornwall working on all manor of clocks and watches, from modern day quartz watches, to electric factory master clocks all the way back to 17th century lantern clocks. The workshop was busy and Michael got hands on experience with a wide range of clocks, watches, barometers and barographs.

When the owner of the shop retired, Michael began working for himself, and quickly made a name for himself as one of the top horologists in Cornwall, with clients spread across the UK. Now Michael specialises on mechanical clocks pre 1900, and has built a workshop and client base around this.

In 2025 a family move meant relocating the workshop to Bath, where Michael continues to carry out repairs to a diverse range of clocks around South West.

“The variety of work I get in makes everyday slightly different, but what doesn’t change is the connection my clients have with the items they are having restored. I’ve always felt its a great privilege to be trusted with an item that means so much to my clients. Even the more everyday items are irreplaceable to the client getting it restored.”
